Kuruvithadam a family basically from agricultrure with interest in Rubber, Coffee and Tea.
The present chairman Sri. K.M. Varkey ventured in to the business of gold loan in 1952 and second hand car business in 1965.
The association and friendship of Sri. K.M. Varkey had with the late Sri. S.S. Koder, late Sri. T.M. Abbu ( Ex. Mayor of Cochin) and Sri. P. Parameswaran Nair (Ex. Municipal Chairman of Muvattupuzha) motivated him to start consumer durable business. In 1975 he started the Kuruvithadam Agencies in Muvattupuzha as the whole sale dealer of Godrej and Manufacturing Company, for marketing their Safes, Strongroom doors, Safedepositlockers, Steel Almirahs, Refrigerators, Typewriters, locks etc. in the central Kerala areas.
Sri. K.M. Varkey’s son Mathew Kuruvithadam fondly addressing as Tensing, joined the family business after his studies.
Utilizing the opportunity of globalization and the entry of new brands, in India, the firm by now Kuruvithadam Agencies Pvt. Ltd. , ventured into multi brand shops and also started exclusive distribution of home appliances in Kerala having 12 home appliances retail showrooms.
The present showrooms are at Ravipuram, M G Road, Cochin, NH BYPASS Cochin , Aluva, Perumbavoor, Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Thodupuzha and brand showrooms of Sony Center at M.G.Road, Cochin, NH Bypass Edapally, Sastri road Kottayam, LG Shoppee at M G Road Cochin.
By this period a new company, Kuruvithadam Associates Pvt. Ltd. Formed and took up the marketing of Chubb Steelage, Bank security products like safes, strong room doors etc. for the State of Kerala.
With entry of 3rd generation in to business, the group diversified in to Brand Showrooms of LINEN CLUB which is premium brand of Aditya Birla Group for selling pure linen fabrics for men and women. Sri. George Mathew (eldest son of Mathew Kuruvithadam) successfully established LINEN CLUB showrooms at Cochin, Kozhikode, Coimbatore and Mangalore. New showrooms are planned at major towns. He is also working on a premium project to launch a new brand of apparels in pure linen.
During its long innings of almost 36 years in home appliances business Kuruvithadam bagged lots of awards for excellence in performance and service, thus making it a brand by itself and highly trusted and dependable.
Taking in to customer convenience and requirements we opened the Kuruvithadam All Brand Showroom at NH Bypass Opp. Oberon Mall, Palarivattam on 18th December 2011 by our Honorable Minister for Excise Sri. K. Babu.
